The number of students is growing year after year. Colleges and universities are struggling to keep up. In the meantime, financing is based on the amount of graduates. In this light, it is not surprising that institutions try to select the best students. But what works and what doesn’t when it comes to selection? And what are the side effects? The LSVb talks about fact and fiction in the world of selection methods.

One group of students who often have to deal with selection are transfer students. It is often said that selection creates an extra barrier for them. But what other barriers are there to making the transfer from mbo to hbo or from hbo to wo? And what are the best practices to enable student mobility? Pierre Poell, chairman of the Landelijk Informatie- en expertisecentrum Aansluiting hbo, talks about the experiences they have obtained in almost thirty years of working on this topic.
